Chelsea Coach Avram Grant Waiting for the African Stars

With making a goal less draw with Liverpool at the home ground, Chelsea has lost a chance to close to within a point of Manchester United. Chelsea is now three points behind Manchester United and five points behind leader Arsenal, which could be extended to eight if the Gunners emerges winner against Blackburn Rovers in today’s premier league match.

Chelsea coach Avram Grant is now eagerly waiting for the return of the African stars and injured players. Chelsea has been affected badly with a number of key players suffering from injury almost throughout the season so far. The situation turned to worst when African stars like Didier Drogba, Michael Essien and Salomon Kalou left the club to join their national side to take part in the African Nations Cup. However, to tell the truth, Chelsea could survive in the title race, picking up three points on a regular basis. However, Chelsea nine match winning run ended when they were held to a draw against Portsmouth before their goals less home draw against Liverpool yesterday.

AFP reported:

"Of course if we draw twice we are not happy but we are still in with a chance of the title," Grant said.

"I think there has been a big physical pressure on the players in the last month. It is a small group of players. Maybe they are a little bit tired because they play also with their national teams.

"But this is part of the game when you belong to a top club. You have a lot of games but they did a good job until now.

It is true that Chelsea has come though a tough time. However, it seems that they have finally got over those days as the African stars are coming back and injured players are getting prepared to come back in action. Chelsea captain John Terry is back to the traing, while Frank Lampard has been back in action yesterday. Now, let us see if Chelsea can continue their charge on the title contention this season in the presence of their key players.
