Sania Mirza vs Timea Bacsinszky: Australian Open 2008 Second Round

Sania Mirza is going to face qualifier Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland in the second round of Australian Open 2008. Sania Mirza defeated Iroda Tulyaganova in straight set in the first round in style. The youngster carries the hopes of millions of Indian in the Australian Open 2008. Though she spent a big part of last year out of court due to her injury, she reached her career highest rank 27 last year.

Timea Bacsinszky is just 18 year old and full of potential. However, she does not have any notable performance in her short career except some impressive performances in 2006 Zurich Open. She had some grand slam successes in junior level in 2004 Australian Open, 2004 French Open and 2005 Australian Open.

However, I do not think that Timea Bacsinszky would pose a major threat for Snaia. Sania Mirza looked confident in the first round match. She projected the emphatic victory with sheer dominance. What she needs now is to continue her form in the next match. Sania Mirza might face Venus Williams in the third round, if she can survives in the second round.
