Maria Sharapova Confirmed Quarter Final Showdown with Justine Henin

With an inspirational victory over her countrywomen Elena Dementieva, fifth seed Maria Sharapova powered into the quarter final of Australian Open 2008. The way, she knocked out Dementieva showed the confident she holds on to win the tournament. Sharapova clinched the victory 6-2, 6-0, which shows how much dominance she had in the match. Dementieva had some chances in the first set, but she failed to hold on her poise in the second. With this victory, Sharapova has confirmed a much-awaited match with world. No. 1 Justine Henin in the quarter final.

She was in scintillating form against Dementieva, snuffing out any resistance when her compatriot looked she could find a way into the game in the first set.

"I was seeing the ball well today," Sharapova said.
"I managed to serve well. I got myself out of trouble with the serve."

Well, Sharapova is not overconfident with her performance; rather she has said that she is not as consistent as Justine Henin. Yes, that is where her inspiration lies. Now, in the quarter final, it is true that fans are going to have an exciting match. After coming through a disappointing year, Maria Sharapova looks focused and confident in the tournament.
