Australian Open 2008: Ana Ivanovic Eyes on Grand Slam Title

Ana Ivanovic is one of strongest contenders of Australian Open 2008. The 20 year old Serbian is ranked fourth in the women’s ranking. She experienced a successful year in 2007 with reaching her first grand slam final in the French Open 2008. With lots of potential in her, she is considered to be the future star of women’s tennis.

Ana Ivanovic has showed her skill and talent winning some WTA titles with impressive performances in the grand slam tournaments. Now, the Serbian is hopeful to build on success this year with similar fashion. Recently, in an interview, she has revealed that she has been experiencing many things for the first time in her career and she is still learning. However, she also expressed that she wants to go a step further this year in the grand slam tournaments indicating her first grand slam title.

Tennis News reported:

….Last year was a very successful year for me and the best year of my career so far. I reach final of a Grand Slam, semifinal of another Grand Slam, and that I see all as steps necessary for me to win a Grand Slam.
So I really hope that this year I can take a step further and maybe even win it, but obviously it's very tough and it requires a lot of experience, you know. And also, the last year was the first year that I played quite a few matches on center courts and that's something that I didn't experience before.
Also playing against top 10 players and being favorite, you know, that's something that I'm facing for the first time in my career and something that I also learned from. You know, experiences I'm learning how to deal with it.

Ana Ivanovic has the ability to win a grand slam title this year. Moreover, what is more important is that she is improving gradually. Recently, she lost to world no. 1 Henin in the Sydney International on the eve of Australian Open 2008. However, she looked impressive in that hard-fought defeat that shows her improvement. I think, she has it in her to become the world no. 1 in future. I will not be surprised if the Serbian wins the Australian Open tennis 2008 titles, leaving behind all other favorites.
