Women's World Cup 2007: Canada beats Ghana by two goals

Canada’s captain Christine SINCLAIR scored two goals and Sophie SCHMIDT and Martina FRANKO the other two goals against Ghana and this ensured their advancement in the tournament and Ghana has been eliminated from the tournament. Canada.com reports:

The captain scored twice, pushing her beyond Hooper to the top of the national World Cup goal-scoring charts as the Canadians breezed, 4-0.

Meaning Even Pellrud's side sets up a crunch game against Australia in Chengdu on Wednesday to determine who among the Group C nations will advance to the knockout phase of this Womens World Cup.

Sinclair now has five World Cup goals on her resume.

In the 55th minute Sinclair received the ball from a corner kick by Kristina Kiss and advanced it to Sophie Schmidt who gave a magnificent head and scored the second goal.

Ghana on the other hand tried to break the Canadian defense but Erin McLeod stood like stone wall on the goal post and thrashed all their efforts.
