Women's World Cup 2007: Brazil smashes all hopes of China

Brazilian female players are no less than their male counterparts and they have proved it in their Saturday match against China. Through the first half both China and Brazil fought neck to neck but in the last three minute the disaster started when Brazillian player, Marta scored the first goal. After the second half started, in the first six minutes, they dynamic-duo Marta and Christian scored three more goals smashing all the hopes of China going into the quarter finals. AFP reports:

Masterful Marta began the bombardment in the 42nd minute when she hustled down a loose ball to ankle-tap it past charging goalkeeper Han Wenxia for the first goal.

Her strike silenced a near-capacity home crowd at the 52,000-seat Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium, but Brazil had only just started their awesome display of football.

"We are here to win the World Cup and we're going to try to do that," the 2006 player of year declared after the game.

Cristiane scored the second and third in the 47th and 48th minutes respectively before Marta made it four with 20 minutes to go.

In the beginning, Chinese captain kept on building pressure on the Brazil but Brazil just smashed it and took the game in their control. After the first goal was scored Chinese team lost control of the game. China’s Swedish Coach Marika Domanski-Lyfors admitted that in the first half the team was ok but messed up in the second half and the Brazillian team proved that they were better.
