Women's World Cup 2007: Denmark beats New Zealand by four goals

After losing to China by 3 goals it was bad news for Denmark but they rekindled the hope by winning against New Zealand today. Denmark beat New Zealand by 2 goals. Thanks to their superior skills and techniques. They controlled the game from the beginning. Katrine Pedersen and Cathrine Paaske Sorensen (DEN) scored the goals for the team. Xinhua.net reports:

The Kiwis, who were whitewashed by Athens Olympics runners-up Brazil 5-0 on Wednesday, had little hope to survive the group after their second loss.

Midfielder Anne Dot eggers Nielsen, who scored a goal in the China-Denmark game on Wednesday, was named the Player of the Match today despite no scoring.

Nielsen said after the match, "It was crucial win for us. We played well and we deserved the win."

Earlier, New Zealand lost to Brazil on Wednesday by 5 goals. Now, they have little hope to stay in the tournament. New Zealand team’s coach John Herdman admitted that the Danes won for their superior techniques. In total, Denmark football team earned 15 shots out which seven hit the target while New Zealand team got only 3 shots.
