US Open 2007: David Ferrer Reaches at the Semi Final

Spanish David Ferrer has reached his first ever grand slam semi final in US Open 2007. In his quarter final match against Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela, 15^th seed Ferrer won in direct three sets. To tell the truth, Ferrer’s Argentine opponent could not show any resistant in the match. David Ferrer won the first two sets very easily by 6-2, 6-3. However, in the third set, Ferrer had to face strong challenge from Chela, though Ferrer could win the set by 7-5. Ferrer was excellent in the match. He did not make any double fault in the match.

The 15th-seeded Ferrer handled 20th-seeded Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. He will next face the third-seeded Djokovic, who downed 17th-seeded Spaniard Carlos Moya, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7), 6-1, in the semifinal round on Saturday

David Ferrer has been playing excellent this year. He already won two ATP tournaments this year and now looking at something bigger from US Open 2007. David Ferrer had earlier knocked out tournament favorite another Spaniard, Rafael Nadal in the fourth round. However, Ferrer has to face a strong challenge from Serbian star Novak Djokovic in the semi final. So, undoubtedly it will be a big match for David Ferrer and it will also be very hard to cause an upset this time.
