Ana Ivanovic loses to Yan Zi in the Rogers Cup

So far, Rogers Cup has been very good for Justine Henin and Yan Zi but not for Ana Ivanovic, the defending Rogers Cup Champion. The world’s fourth ranked female player lost to Yan Zi of China. Ivanovic did not have any control over her game. The Star.com reports:

Fleeting as it was, dispatched 6-3, 6-1 by China's Zi Yan, an accomplished doubles player – Wimbledon and Australian Open champion – but nevertheless firmly stalled in the nether regions of singles ranking.

Sorry, too, was the clearly Ana-gaga audience and, likely more so, the organizers of this withdrawal-plagued tournament, which yesterday lost fifth-seeded Anna Chakvetadze to flu and eighth-seeded Elena Dementieva to the superior (also profanity gifted) effort of Francesca Schiavone.

Ivanovic, the 19-year-old Serb and current resident of Switzerland – where many tennis pros roost – was thoroughly discombobulated and demolished by Yan's speed, the rat-a-tat of two-fisted groundstroke slices, low lasers that found the corners.

Though Ivanovic is a good player, she has not been very good at adopting her techniques along with the situation which has been successfully done by players like Justine Henin.
