Ana Ivanovic Reaches to the Semi-Final of Wimbledon 2007

Ana Ivanovic, the Serbian rising tennis star, has reached to the semi-final of the Wimbledon 2007 defeating another top seed Nicole Vaidišová. At one point it seemed the Vaidisova was going to win the match when she was ahead of Ivanovic by 5-3 in the last set. However, young talented Ana Ivanovic could save three match points and eventually won the match from an edge. Vaidisova started the superbly and won the first set by 4-6 but in the next set Ivanovic came to the game winning the set very easily by 6-2.

However, the most interest part of the drama was still left for the fans in the last set where Serbian star Ivanovic won the set by 7-5. I think that Ana Ivanovic could winthe mental pressure and showed a tremendous performance in the classic match.

Breaking News reported:
Ivanovic held her nerve superbly to stay in the match when she served at 3-5 down in the final set, then capitalised on a series of Vaidisova errors to move on and clinch victory in her first Centre Court appearance.

After exactly two hours, Vaidisova dunked a double-fault into the net to end the match and add to her reputation for mental fragility which has dogged her in big tournaments.
Vaidisova had lost from an almost identical position in last year’s French Open semi-final, when she failed to serve out for the match against Svetlana Kuznetsova.

I think Ana Ivanovic is going to be the next star of tennis world because to me, she has a great potential and in the last few months Ana Ivanovic could improve a lot which is most important for a professional player. In French Open 2007, Ana Ivanovic became runner up as she lost in the final to no. 1 seeded Justine Henin. Ivanovic will take on Venus Williams in the semi-final of the Wimbledon 2007.
