Japan Open 2006 Tennis: Roger Federer takes the Men's Singles Crown

Another feather has been added to the most adorned crown of Roger Federer, the highest ranked and most prominent tennis star of men’s tennis at present. He defeated Tim Henman in the final of this year’s Japan Open with a clean feat o two direct sets. This nine Grand Slam title holder, Federer could continue his domination in today’s tennis world.

It was Henman who made the way easy for Federer winning his first Japan Open title. In the whole match Henman made six double mistakes. On this regard, I am quoting the post match speech of Federer from a website:

"When he served three double faults, that just gave me the first set," said Federer. "It was hard for him after the three double faults because if you want to win you just can't do that."

After losing the game, Henman gave the credit to his opponent and he is happy with his performance in this tournament as he thinks that it will increase his confidence for the next tournaments. I am quoting his speech regarding this match as well as this tournament from a website:

"It wasn't easy today; the wind was a factor and I had trouble with my serve, but his ability to hit passing shots so well and consistently is what makes it so difficult. He was just too good."

"I'm not the first player to lose to Roger in the final and I won't be the last," he said. "It's a great week for me to be back in the final of a big tournament. To reach the final helps with both my confidence and ranking."

In the way of winning the tournament, Federer defeated Benjamin Becker, Takao Suzuki in the semi-final and quarter final respectively. Though this title can not go with any Grand Slam victory in terms of importance of Grand Slam, it can also make Federer more confident as it is a WTA tournament.
