On March 21, 2011, Google Voice and Sprint Nextel announced their partnership. Under this partnership, Google Voice will be integrated into Sprint handsets.
From now on, Sprint customers will be able to use their current Sprint number as their Google Voice number and vice versa. Google Voice will also supplant Sprint’s voicemail service. From now on, customers will be able to receive “transcribed voicemail messages via email or text.”
Here is a video clip how Sprint users can use Google Voice without the need of having any additional number.
Today, Sprint also unveiled its new 4G based smartphone Nexus S 4G. The handset is equipped with 1GHz Hummingbird processor. It has 512MB RAM, 16GB internal storage, NFC, front-facing VGA camera and 5 mp rear mounted camera. The phone will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The phone will be priced at $199 with a two-year contract.
