Arsenal: End of the Road for Manuel Almunia?

If you are an Arsenal fan, then you already know that goal keeping is the main problem for coach Arsene Wenger. The number one goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has been out of form for a long time and right now, he is suffering from injury. In the summer transfer window of 2010, Arsene Wenger tried his best to find another goalkeeper but simply could not do it. In the last match against Manchester United on Monday, Wenger went for a young goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. Manuel Almunia said that he was fit but Wenger did not take him.
Now, there are some rumors that Wenger will try to sell Almunia for a deal of 1.5 million pound. At least two clubs in Spain are interested about him and most probably in the January transfer window he will leave the club.
Manuel Almunia was not a bad goalkeeper but he was never consistent. This was his main problem and he made some important saves but at the same time he made some important mistakes. For Arsenal, it has been quite some time that there with a very good goalkeeper and Arsene Wenger should try to send some money in the January transfer window to buy at least two world class goalkeepers.
This is one area he cannot be stingy and he must spend enough money. The club has earned a lot of revenue and profit in the last two or three years and this is a very good time to spend some money on the transfer window.
