Wet ground condition forced to call off the second warm-up match

Without playing the two warm-up matches, New Zealand cricket team will have to take on the host team, Bangladesh, in the opening ODI match of the five-match ODI series.

New Zealand cricket team was supposed to play two warm up matches against Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) 11 before the scheduled 5-match one-day international series kicks off.

New Zealand’s first warm-up match was scheduled to play on October 1, 2010, but it was cancelled due to heavy rain. Ground condition was not suitable for playing.

New Zealand was scheduled to play their second warm-up match on October 3, 2010, but because of wet ground condition match has been cancelled. Both the matches were scheduled to play at the Krira Shikka Protisthan Stadium near Dhaka.

Though the rain had stopped, the outfit was drenched and was not safe for play. That is why, the match had been called off.

New Zealand cricket team could acclimatize themselves with the weather and pitch condition of Bangladesh playing these two warm-up matches. It is really bad luck for the touring team as they could not get the opportunity because of heavy rain.

However, Kiwi will practice at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

"The BCB have arranged a block at Shere Bangla National Stadium, where we will be playing the five ODIs, so the team will get some decent preparation by completing a number of open wicket trainings."

There is a strong possibility that ODI series starting from October 5, 2010 will be affected by rain.
