The KMAT is conducted to admit students in MBA and MCA programs offered by

private universities and AICTE approved colleges in Karnataka.

Located in the southern part of India, the Indian state of Karnataka was created on November 1, 1956. Previously, it was known as the State of Mysore. It was created under the State Reorganization Act. In 1973, the state was renamed Karnataka.

The state covers an area of 191,976 km² accounting for 5.83% of the total geographical area of India. It is the eighth largest state of India in terms of land and ninth largest in terms of population. The state has thirty districts and Kannada is the dominant language in the state.

Karnataka is bordered by Goa to the northwest, Kerala to the southwest, Andhra Pradesh to the east, Tamil Nadu to the southeast, the Arabian Sea to the west, and Maharashtra to the north.
