Kaye Cowher wife of Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher passed away

Kaye Cowher, wife of former Pittsburgh Steelers coach, Bill Cowher, passed away on July 23, 2010. She was 54 years old. Kaye Cowher was suffering from skin cancer for a long time. Services will be held in North Carolina on July 26, 2010.

Kaye Cowher was born in Bunn, North Carolina. She had a twin sister by the name Faye. Both of them used to play women’s basketball.

Like her husband, Kaye Cowher was a successful career in basket ball. Kaye and her sister, led the basketball team of the State of North Carolina to the Atlantic Coast Conference’s first women’s basketball title in 1978. They also appeared in a Wrigley’s Doublemint gum commercial.

Kaye and Bill Cowher met at North Carolina in 1976. At that time, Bill Cowher was a football player. The couple got married in 1981.

Kaye Cowher was instrumental in making her husband retire from coaching in 2007 and move to North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh, North Carolina. Their children finished their high school and college basketball career.

Bill and Kaye Cowher were happily married and they are left three daughters- Meagan Cowher, Lauren Cowher and Lindsay Cowher. All the daughters followed their mother’s footsteps and went on to play first Division college basketball. Meagan Cowher and Lauren Cowher went on to play basketball at Princeton University from 2004 to 2008. Lindsay Cowher currently plays at Wofford.
