Aston Villa Winger Ashley Young: A Hot Property in the Summer Transfer Market 2010

Aston Villa winger Ashley Young has already attracted interests from a number of top European clubs including Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona and Manchester United. Though Villa has not reportedly received any formal bid for the 25-year-old England international, it is understood that lucrative offers for Young are now being lined up by his suitors.

Villa boss Martin O’Neill is also very much concerned about it and has already made himself clear that his priority is to keep hold on Young. However, O’Neill could be holding out for a big amount if the player decides to leave.

Ashley Young was not at his best last season and failed to earn a place in Fabio Capello’s provisional England World Cup squad. However, it seems there is no shortage of suitors for the highly talented winger who can also operate as a second striker.

Speculations have it in the media that Manchester United is lining up a £25 million bid for Ashley Young who has made 123 Premier League appearances for Villa since joining the club in 2007 from Watford. He may have scored only 23 goals, but he was the source of many Aston Villa goals.

It would be hard for Ashley Young to resist an offer from a club like Manchester United, Barcelona or Liverpool. At 25, Young is not so young anymore and could consider it is the right time to make a big move looking for Champions League football and a better financial package.

Any player would love to play for a big club like Manchester United or Barcelona and Ashley Young would be no different. So, there is every possibility Young could move away from Villa this summer, but Villa boss Martin O’Neill would then ensure the player can not leave at the cost of nothing.
