Arsenal’s Hunt for Goalkeeper Continues

Following some disappointing performances from Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski this season, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is believed to be looking for a new goalkeeper for next season. A number of goalkeepers have been linked with a move to the club, and it seems the list is only getting longer.

Goalkeepers like Gianluigi Buffon, Doni, Bologna keeper Emiliano Viviano and some others have already been reported to be linked with a move to Arsenal next season. Well, the list is not yet finished. At list, there are two more goalkeepers who Arsenal is currently eyeing on.

Arsene Wenger has been an admirer of Olympique Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris who has recently been the best goalkeeper of the French league for 2 consecutive seasons now. However, Wenger knows that Lloris would not come at a cheap, even if Lyon agrees to let him go. In fact, the Arsenal manager has to spend over £12 million to secure his service.

So, the Frenchman has another goalkeeper in his target list: Andriy Pyatov. The Ukrainian international has already shown his talent for Shakhtar Donetsk during their triumph in UEFA Cup 2008-09. The 25-year-old keeper has talent as well as experience, and thus, filling the bills for Arsene Wenger.

Well, nothing is confirmed yet and Wenger has not made any formal bid for neither of the goalkeeper. However, it is believed that Wenger would spend considerable amount of money in the summer transfer window, following Arsenal’s strong financial success last season.
