Nistelrooy Advised Berbatov to Carry on at Manchester United

Dimitar Berbatov has spent another disappointing season at Manchester United. Following his move to Old Trafford for a fee worth £30.75 million from Tottenham Hotspur in 2008, there was a big expectation around him. Unfortunately, the Bulgarian international failed to live up to the expectation so far. In fact, he could not get enough first team football this season and there is a speculation that the striker is contemplating a move away from United in the Summer transfer window.

Despite his poor form, former Red Devils striker Ruud van Nistelrooy believes that Berbatov should give it another shot and he should not leave Old Trafford so early. The Dutch striker said that he was lucky to get a club like Real Madrid after leaving Manchester United, but this can not happen to anybody. So, his advice for Berbatov is that he should carry on at United and try to clinch a place in the first eleven by proving himself.

Well, I can understand Nistelrooy’s point of view. He had a highly successful stint at Manchester United with whom he dominated in world football. He was always in newspaper headlines when he was in Manchester United. Naturally, his brand value was very high. After leaving Old Trafford, he was lucky to have a big club like Madrid where he could hold his brand value due to Madrid’s image as a big club. However, the story is not so sweet for others. There are many who suffered in their career after leaving a big club like Manchester United or Real Madrid.

That is what Ruud van Nistelrooy wants to advise Berbatov. The Bulgarian is still 29 and has at least 4-5 years left in his career. So, Berbatov should not leave Old Trafford as yet and he should try his best to win more first team football next season. Now, let us see if Berbatov listens to Ruud van Nistelrooy and stays at Manchester United.
