Abou Diaby Expects Better Protection from Referees for Arsenal

Arsenal’s French midfielder Abou Diaby thinks that Arsenal always becomes the victim of aggressive football of other premier league teams. His comments came after his club mate Aaraon Ramsey suffered a horrendous injury last week in a 3-1 victory over Stoke City. Diaby calls for better protection for the Gunners from referees who, he believes, very often overlook the kind of Ramsey injury and other teams just take the advantage of it.

He said, “In the last couple of years, teams have tried to intimidate us by playing very strongly, kicking us and things like that, but how far can this kind of thing go? We have seen three cases of this in the last four years - myself, Eduardo and Aaron.”

"We know English football has a lot of physical engagement, and that is part of the game - and we know that nobody goes in with the intent of injuring a fellow player, but when people are breaking their legs like this, it is too much.”

Ramsey has broken his right leg and for him the current season is now over. Arsenal has some very important games ahead of them where they would miss his service. Arsenal lost important players to injuries at crucial times in the past too. Diaby and striker Eduardo also suffered horrific injuries and were out of action for a very long time and Arsenal missed them for some crucial matches.
