Arsene Wenger Now Looking for a Striker in Transfer Market at Last

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he is now in search of a new striker in the currently ongoing January transfer window. Arsenal is currently missing Dutch forward Robin van Persie and Denmark international Nicklas Bendtner through injury, while winger Theo Walcott is also struggling for match fitness. Overall, Arsenal’s attacking line up has become very thin at the moment. Wenger was waiting for Bendtner who recently underwent a surgery to get over his groin injury and it seems that the Dane will not be able to return in action very soon.
Wenger said, “It depends on Bendtner and how bad (Bendtner’s injury) is. He is being treated now and will come back on Friday for tests, then we will assess the situation.”
“If he is out for two months, there is no way – we will need someone absolutely. We are looking anyway and if we find a good bargain then we will still do it.”
The Frenchman is now tracking West Ham striker Carlton Cole and Bordeaux forward Marouane Chamakh. Wenger is also trying to prevent the possible exit of striker Fran Merida who has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.
