Lata Mangeshkar was awarded Legion d'Honneur by France

Lata Mangeshkar is known as the legend singer in Bollywood. She is now 80 years old but she can sing better than other. I feel surprise when I hear her song. She is well known for her play back song. She has spent seven decades and already sung more than 1000 song in Bollywood and other regional language films. She had to sacrifice many things for her glorious career. Recently, she has been awarded by Legion d'Honneur. It was given by France and you will be surprised to hear that she is the second Indian who has got this price. India’s legend actor and super star Amitabh Bachchan was awarded the same prize by France in 2007 for her contribution to Indian and international culture.

Her younger sister Asha Bhosle is also known as play back singer. She was awarded "Brimful of Asha" in 1997 for her inspirational song which was later re-mixed by DJ Fatboy Slim.

Legion d'Honneur is considered as the prestigious award. It is given to French citizen and foreigners for their outstanding achievement in culture, science, industry or the military. It was established in 1802.
