Arsenal Midfielder Fran Merida Becomes a Target of Atletico Madrid

Following his superb performance in Arsenal’s 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Liverpool last Wednesday, Fran Merida has become a potential target for Spanish club Atletico Madrid. The Spanish outfit has ensured that they are interested about the young midfielder who scored his first goal for Arsenal in the 2-1 win over Liverpool. Here, it is noteworthy that the player’s current deal with the North London club expires at the end of the current season and the Spaniard has not signed any new deal yet.

However, Fran Merida has said that he is happy at Arsenal and would like to stay here, but he would sit with the club officials to talk about a new deal. Enrique Cerezo, president of Atletico Madrid, has said that everything depends on the player himself, though he has admitted the club’s interest to sign the player.
