Slaven Bilic Wants to Stay at the Helm of Croatian National Team

Croatia has failed to qualify for World Cup 2010 finals finishing third in the group behind England and Ukraine. However, Bilic has indicated that he and his coaching team would not resign because the football association of Croatia as well as Croatian players and fans want them to stay at the job.

Croatia was top seed in the group, but England and Ukraine topped the first two places, and thus, ruling out Croatia’s hopes of clinching a world cup berth. Reports available in the media suggest that Slaven Bilic would be handed a contract extension by the football association of the country very soon.

Well, Slaven Bilic has been pretty much successful since taking up the coaching job of Croatia national team in 2006. Croatia qualified for Euro 2008 from a group boasting of the teams like Russia and England. In fact, his side defeated England on the last match of the qualifying round, and thus, knocking out England from Euro 2008.
