Ruud van Nistelrooy has a Challenging Task at Real Madrid

Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has vowed that he would be bale to clinch a regular place in the Real Madrid starting line up. The former Dutch international has also said that he had transfer offers from lesser teams, but he decided to stay at the Spanish club because he wants to what he is capable of. He has just recovered from a long-term knee injury that forced him to miss almost half of the last season.

No doubt, getting his regular place back at Real Madrid starting line up would be a big challenge for Nistelrooy because the club has signed some of today’s best players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and many others. However, the 33-year-old striker wants to take this challenge and show that he is still capable of delivering at the top level. That is why, he turned down a reported offer from English premier league club Tottenham Hotspur who attempted to lure him to the White Hart Lane during Summer 2009 transfer window.

Well, I think, it was a very challenging decision taken by Ruud van Nistelrooy. A move to Tottenham would have been a natural choice for any striker who is now at 33. However, I respect his decision because he wants to play for Netherlands again as he has recently revealed. I think, it is very much possible for a player of his stature to get his place back in national team. Here, I would like to mention about 35-year-old Argentine striker Martin Palermo who has recently got a recall from Argentina coach Diego Maradona for Argentina’s upcoming world cup qualifying match against Brazil. So, Ruud van Nistelrooy should work hard to get his place back in the Real Madrid squad and show some strong performance and I think it would be enough for him to get a recall from Netherlands national team.
