Manchester United moved up atop the point table with a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth on Wednesday and still they have a match in hand. With 74 points from 31 games, Manchester United is still in the right track to defend their premier league title for the third time in a row. Liverpool is 3 points adrift of the leader Manchester United and played a game more than the Red Devils.
In the 9th minute of the match, Wayne Rooney scored from a Ryan Giggs cross. Then the lead was doubled in the second half when Paul Scholes sent a pass to Michael Carrick who successfully rolled the ball into the post. Portsmouth tried to come back in the match in the second half, but Manchester United remained dominant throughout the match, though their performance was not anywhere closer to their impressive form. However, the most important thing is that the Red Devils picked up three important points from the match and are firmly put in their way to 18th English league title.
