Chelsea got their second straight premier league victory under new manager Guss Hiddink as they defeated Wigan Athletic 2-1 thanks to Frank Lampard’s injury time strike that sent Chelsea to the second place in premier league table. Chelsea was put ahead in the match when captain John Terry’s tremendous mid-air volley took to visiting side’s net. However, Wigan got the equalizer when Oliver Kapo scored from a cross sent by Maynor Figueroa with only eight minutes off the time. That time, it seemed that Wigan was going to pick up a point from the match, but Lampard had something different in his mind as his header edged past Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland into the net.

With this victory, Chelsea has replaced Liverpool on goal difference, even though both teams have 55 points from same number of games. Still, Manchester United leads by 7 points atop the table and the lead can be increased by 3 points to 10 if United can defeat Newcastle United in their next premier league fixture.
