Manny Pacquiao is one of the most popular boxers of today and the Filipino is perhaps becoming invincible day by day with his growing dominance in boxing world. However, very few of us know about the man behind today’s Manny Pacquiao- his coach, mentor Freddie Roach who has been coaching Pacquiao since 2001. Freddie Roach is the man who shunned Pacquiao’s skill and talent and helped him flourish his potential.

Ring Magazine and Yahoo Sports have awarded Freddie Roach the Trainer of the Year 2008 award. Roach guided Pacquiao to win three bouts against three top class boxers in 2008 including Juan Manuel Marquez, David Diaz and then Oscar De La Hoya. Pacquiao is definitely a highly talented boxer who could become a great boxer with his consistency and skill, but he has to continue his form with growing older. Here, Pacquiao can learn from Evander Holyfield who performed really very well in his recent controversial defeat to Nikolai Valuev.
