FA Cup 08-09 Matches Live on Pix Television in India

(This entry was originally published on Friday, January 2nd, 2009)

There is good news for Indian football fans who would like to enjoy the important matches of FA Cup (The Football Association Cup in England). From now on, football fans in India can watch the FA Cup matches live on PIX television channel, owned by Multi Screen Media which was previously known as Sony. PIX television channel holds the official TV rights of this widely known English football tournament which has a huge fan base in India and South Asia. Pix will start to telecast the FA Cup 08-09 matches from 3 January 2009. However, I am not yet confirmed if Pix television will be available to watch from other sub-continental countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc. In sub-continent, there are many die-hard football fans who always follows European football leagues, specially English Premier league.

Well, many Indian football fans may be surprised to know Pix television channel, which is mainly an English movie channel, is going to telecast the FA Cup 2008-09 matches live for its audience. Obviously, Pix is trying to increase its audience base across India. However, many Indian football fans would not even know that Pix is telecasting the FA Cup matches from this season, because Pix television channel is not yet a popular channel in India and very few people would assume that the English movie channel would telecast FA Cup football matches for its audience. So, I think, Pix television should take some initiative to let Indian people know which channel they will be able to enjoy the FA Cup matches live. In many regions in India, cable operators may not even offers Pix channel for the audience, considering its smaller audience base. So, though I have said that it is good news for Indian football fans as Pix is going to telecast FA Cup matches live, only Indian fans would be able to know how good the news is.
