Shoulder Injury Ruled Virender Sehwag Out of Twenty20 World Cup

India’s hard-hitting opening batsman Virender Sehwag has got out of twenty20 world cup 2009 as he failed to get over his shoulder injury. The player took a blow to his shoulder while playing for Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2009, but still he was expected to recover in time for the t20 world cup. However, Sehwag sat out for India’s both practice games and the opening match against Bangladesh last Saturday.

India has already called up his Delhi Daredevils teammate Dinesh Karthik, who is a big-hitting wicket-keeper batsman, to deputize Sehwag in the squad. No doubt, it is a big blow for the defending champions. Sehwag is an explosive opener who can take a match out of opposition’s grip and his performance over the last one year has been very impressive.

Dinesh Karthik, who is also capable of playing big shots and generally bats in the middle order, could play an important role for India. In fact, his performance in the recently concluded IPL 2009 was really satisfactory.
