Will Bangladeshi Players Cut Ties with ICL?

Well, this is a one of the vital questions roaming around Bangladesh cricket at this moment. Following BCCI’s amendment offer for ICL players, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also asked ICL players to cut their ties with unauthorized Indian Cricket League (ICL) in order to come back to domestic cricket in Bangladesh cricket as well as in international cricket. However, Bangladeshi players, who have contracts with ICL, would have to play domestic cricket until December before they become eligible for national team selection. Now, the question is if ICL players from Bangladesh would cut their ties with money-spinning ICL.

Former Bangladesh captain, Habibul Bashar, who also led 13 Bangladeshi cricketers to form ICL team Dhaka Warriors last year, has indicated that ICL players may not leave ICL on financial ground. He pointed out the fact that the domestic cricket in Bangladesh does not offer any financial security for the cricketers, though he welcomed the move from BCB.

BCB banned the ICL players for 10 years from domestic cricket following their mass exodus from international fold. I think, Habibul Bashahr is right, because players can not earn a $200,000 deal for 3 years by playing in the domestic cricket in Bangladesh. Moreover, there is no certainty that all of the 13 players would be bale to play for Bangladesh national team.
