Haroon Lorgat Says ICC Keen to Help Pakistan Cricket

Haroon Lorgat, the chief executive officer of ICC, has said that the cricket’s governing would continue helping Pakistan cricket in the years to come. The future of Pakistan cricket now seems to be uncertain as the country is suffering from tumultuous security condition. Specially, after the terror attack on Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in March, it has been certain that no international team would like to visit the country in the recent future. Moreover, ICC has recently stripped off the world cup 2011 hosting status of Pakistan on security ground. Naturally, Pakistani players, cricket officials and fans are disappointed. There is also a question regarding how long it will take before international cricket comes back in Pakistan again. However, ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat said that ICC is committed to help Pakistan. ICC has also recently asked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to form a task force.

Former ICC president Ehsan Mani has recently said that ICC has not taken the decision of taking away Pakistan’s world cup hosting status at the board meeting of ICC. However, Mr. Lorgat dismissed the accusation claiming that the decision was agreed unanimously at the ICC board meeting.
