Aishwarya Rai at the Cannes Film Festival 2009

It seems that the Cannes Film Festival has decided to make itself unimportant and it is time to follow the Hollywood and Bollywood film industries to get more publicity. Aishwarya Rai is never considered to be a very talented actress in the eyes of film critics in India. Yes, she is considered to be very beautiful and sometimes some people and media in India want to say that she is the most beautiful woman on earth. It is also true that she won the title of Miss World but Cannes Film Festival is supposed to be a place for the high quality films.

I can not remember any movie of Aishwarya Rai that has until now attracted any good appreciation as a good movie. She is more like a common partial actress who is doing a lot of commercial movies and getting a lot of media publicity and getting sponsorship contract with different companies. But I have never seen her acting in any good movie until now. This is the thing that most people should understand. That is why, I can not understand the logic behind her presence in Cannes Festival as one of India’s representatives.

On a different note, Shahrukh Khan is facing a lot of criticism in IPL 2009.
