England Captain Claire Taylor: Wisden Cricketer of the Year 2009

England women cricket team’s captain Claire Taylor has become the first woman cricketer to become one of the five best cricketers according to Wisden which is known as ‘Bible of cricket’. Claire Taylor is understandably very much delighted being the first woman to achieve this accolade. Claire Taylor has been in excellent form over the last one year as she was instrumental behind England women’s Ashes triumph on Australian soil in 2008. An Oxford graduate, Claire Taylor also played a big part behind England’s success in the recently concluded ICC Women’s World Cup 2009 where England won the title defeating New Zealand in the final of the tournament.

Claire Taylor has played 109 ODI matches for England and scored 3611 runs at an average of 40.57 with 8 centuries. The 33-year-old has represented England in 14 tests in which she scored 1008 runs with 4 centuries at an average of 43. 82. No doubt, Claire Taylor has already entered her name among the legends of women’s cricket.
