Edwin van der Sar Close to British Record for Clean Sheets in Minute

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has recently broken Steve Death’s longest clean sheet record at English league during Manchester Untied’s 1-0 victory over Everton last week. Now, the Dutch keeper has set his sights on the British record held by Chris Woods who went 1,196 minutes without conceding any goal while playing for Rangers in the 1986-87 season. Edwin van der Sar is undefeated for 1,122 minutes now in English league and needs to remain so for another 75 minutes to break the record.

However, Woods claims that the United goalkeeper is still more than four matches away to make the record as his unbeaten run of 1,122 minutes does not include the goals he conceded during Manchester Untied’s 5-3 win over Gamba Osaka in the semi final of Fifa Club World Cup 2008 last December. According to Woods, his record included all competitions and so should be for Edwin van der Sar. Woods thinks, van der Sar is unbeaten for 810 minutes now.
