Stoke City Defeated Arsenal 2-1 at Home

Arsenal has stumbled further today in their title run in English Premier League away at Stoke City. The North London club suffered their third league defeat today as Stoke City defeated Arsenal 2-1. With this defeat, Arsenal has dropped five points in two matches. Arsene Wenger boys have been moved down to the fourth place with same 20 points from 11 matches. Manchester United moved up to the third place with a 4-3 victory over Hull City at home. On the other hand, Chelsea demolished Sunderland 5-0 at home.

To be honest with you, today was the worst day for Arsenal so far this season because besides the defeat they also lost two matches for two different reasons. Robin van Persie was sent off after coming on as a substitute and Theo Walcott was limped out of the field on stretcher. So, I think, you would not argue with me on this matter that Arsenal has experienced their worst day so far this season. Rory Delap has continued his magical long throw-ins to ensure a big victory for his club today with setting up both the goals by his throw-ins. Ricardo Fuller and Seyi Olofinjana scored for Stoke City, while Gael Clichy sent back a goal for Arsenal.

Stoke City was leading 1-0 at the half time thanks to 11th-minute strike by Ricardo Fuller. After the first half, it was expected that Arsenal might bounce back, but Stoke City doubled their lead in stead when Seyi Olofinjana scored in the 73rd minute and the second goal almost ensured Arsenal was going to suffer another blow today. Clichy’s deflected goal in the 90th minute came as a consolation for Arsenal in the match.
