India vs England 3rd ODI 2008: Online Live Score and Update

India
is going to face England at the Green Park stadium, Kanpur on tomorrow (20 November 2008) in the third ODI of the series. India has already won the first two matches in the ODI series and is hot favorite to win the third match too. It is not that India is playing that well, but we surely can give some credit to England players for playing so badly in Indian soil. Of course, English batsmen are always weak against spin and in the past, they suffered greatly against Shane Warne of Australia. However, I am shocked to see that they struggled against a part time spin bowler like Yuvraj Singh.

Match: India vs England, Third ODI 2008

Date: 20 November, Thursday

Venue: Green Park, Kanpur

Kick off: 09:00 local time (03:30 GMT)

Live on: NEO Sports, Sky Sports

In the second ODI Yuvraj Singh took 4 wickets and won the match for his county. So, I am not hopeful that England can do anything special tomorrow. England bowlers are not in bad form, but they are lacking consistency. Of course, you have to remember that India’s main strength is batting and it has a number of top quality batsmen. Still, I think that these current Indian ODI team has become weak in the absence of players like Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble etc.

The wicket of Kanpur might take a stern test of the bowlers tomorrow as curator Shiv Kumar has predicted a big scoring match where 300 runs is very possible by either side. There will be no uneven bounce and it is definitely a good new for the batsmen of both sides. Naturally, bowlers will not like a wicket like this which will only lend its handling help towards the batsmen. England will replace Samit Patel with spinner all rounder Graeme Swann for the third ODI. No doubt, England’s spin attack will be led by Swann.

Cricinfo reported:

The pitch curator at Green Park Stadium has predicted a batting paradise. "The bounce would be even, ball would come nicely onto the bat and the strokemakers would make merry," said Shiv Kumar. "So far, the 294 India scored against Pakistan remains the highest at Green Park. I don't rule out a 300-plus score on Thursday."

Thats good news for the batsmen on both sides, after the raging turner prepared when India played South Africa in a Test earlier this year. There's a likely chance that smog will obstruct visibility throughout the day, because Kanpur is a very polluted town.

England’s lack of quality spinner has become one of the major problems for England so far in the series. Indian wickets are typically spinner friendly and they do not have a quality spinner who can dominate over the batsmen. In the second ODI, you might have seen that English pacers could bring some early breakthroughs, but England failed too carry on the momentum in the middle of the innings as there was no strong spin attack. On the other hand, Indian spinners took 9 out of 10 England wickets in the match. England pacer Ryan Sidebottom has picked up a back problem recently and will remain sidelined for the third ODI too. Indian pacer Ishant Sharma has got the match fitness, but his inclusion is not yet confirmed.

India is definitely favorite for the 3rd ODI, but if England pacers can bring some early breakthroughs like they did in the second ODI and the English spinners can continue the momentum in the middle of the innings, England can bring out a victory in the third ODI in what would bring them back in the series. I hope to see an exciting match at Kanpur.
