Chelsea has made a new five-year contract with Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien and under this deal the midfielder is committed to stay at Stamford Bridge until summer 2013. Essien expressed his happiness after extending his spell at Chelsea terming the club’s fans fantastic.
The Ghana international joined Chelsea in a move from Lyon on a transfer fee worth $48 million in 2005. So far, Essien played 143 matches for Chelsea in all competitions. The midfielder is looking for a bright future at Stamford Bridge. With the arrival of new coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, Essien is very hopeful about the upcoming season.
Coach Scolari termed Michael Essien one of best midfielders in the world and expressed was delighted about the new deal Chelsea made with Michael Essien.
