Arsenal Midfielder Alexander Hleb Completed Barcelona Move

It was reported many times in the media that Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb was going to join Barcelona for the next season. At last, the midfielder has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Spanish giant. In his three-year spell at Arsenal, Alexander Hleb improved a lot in his skill and game. Arsenal will receive an initial transfer fee worth £11.9 million from Barcelona, though it could rise to £13.5 million depending on the success Barcelona achieved during Hleb’s stay at Camp Nou.

Arsenal already lost Mathieu Flamini who moved to Italian club AC Milan earlier. Another midfielder Gilberto Silva’s likely move to Greek club Panathinaikos as the highest paid player in Greece is now just a matter of time. So, with the departure of Gilberto and Hleb, Arsenal falls short of a quality holding midfielder in the squad.

Arsene Wenger is now looking to sing Xabi Alonso from Liverpool in what would be a pound-for-pound replacement with Hleb and Gilberto. However, noting is confirmed about Xabi Alon’s possible move to Arsenal. Meanwhile, AC Milan has pulled themselves out of the race to sign Arsenal’s Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor, citing that they would not sign any more player upon the completion of signing Ronaldinho. Now, let us see if Arsenal can manage to sing someone who would fit the shoes of Hleb and Gilberto in the midfield.
