All-Williams Final in Wimbledon 2008

Tennis World is going to experience another All Williams Grand Slam women’s singles final in Wimbledon 2008. Venus Williams and Serena Williams confirmed another all Williams final thrashing their opponents in straight sets in semi final today. Serena in the first semi final defeated Russia’s Elena Dementieva, tournament’s fifth seed, 6-1, 7-6(3). Then in the second semi final, younger sister Serena Williams stopped the incredible run of China’s Zheng Jie, who made history becoming the first women from China to reach a Grand Slam semi final, defeating the Chinese star 6-2, 7-6(5). The final match will take place at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon on 5 July 2008.

The two sisters faced each other in grand slam final on six occasions till date, with Serena winning five times and Venus winning once. Last time tow sisters met in a grand slam final was Wimbledon 2003 which Serena Williams won 4–6, 6–4, 6–2. However, Venus is more successful than Serena when it comes to Wimbledon as she has four Wimbledon titles so far to her credit, while Serena Williams has two titles in Wimbledon. Tennis world is now eagerly waiting for another all Williams grand slam final after five years. Now, let us see if Venus can take the revenge of her defeat five years back and seal her fifth Wimbledon title.
