Australian captain Ricky Ponting has said that International cricket authority should find a six week window for Indian Premier League in the calendar of every season. "They'd be silly if they didn't put it on the calendar," he said.
"I think there's a real danger there that international players might just see the glitz and glamour of this event and not want to play international cricket anymore, which I don't think would be great for the game, so I know that all the administrators around the world will looking into some way of finding a six week window for this tournament every season."
Ricky Ponting thinks that if cricket administrators can not find a fixture of IPL every year, it would lead many International cricketers to go into early retirement from international cricket, which would not be a good thing for international cricket.
Well, I think, Indian premier league itself could be a threat for international cricket. Ricky Ponting played only four matches in the tournament and the amount he earned by playing four matches may well surpass the amount he will earn playing for Australian whole season. Moreover, IPL Twenty20 tournament is getting popularity among the cricket fans who have found it a good way of entertainment.
