French Open 2008 without Sania Mirza

It is really bad news for the fans of Sania Mirza. The Indian tennis star is currently ranked 32 in WTA ranking. She withdrew herself from French Open 2008 because the Hyderabad-based Sania is yet to recover from her wrist injury. So, Sania Mirza is going to miss French Open after attending 13 major consecutive tournaments on tour.

Sania Mirza could reach the second round in last year’s French Open before being beaten by Ana Ivanovic, current no.2 of WTA ranking. Mirza underwent a surgery in her wrist last month, but she is still feeling some pain in her wrist while playing forehand.

MSN reported:

The report said the cast from Sania's wrist was removed on May 5 and she has since been in rehab. The daily quoted her father Imran as saying that Sania can't stretch her wrist beyond a point and added that though she is comfortable playing backhand shots, she feels some pain while playing the forehand.

Sania Mirza is currently highest ranked player from India. She wants to return to court through DFS Classic, due to begin from 9 June 2008. So, no doubt, Indian tennis fans would miss Sania Mirza a lot, because there is no other Indian star in the tournament. Fans are eagerly waiting and hoping for her quick recovery from the wrist injury. So, fans of Sania Mirza will be very happy to see her playing in the next grand slam, Wimbledon 2008.
