Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab: Live Score and Updates

Rajasthan Royals are going to take on Kings XI Punjab tomorrow in an Indian Premier League match. This is going to be the first home match for Rajasthan Royals as the match will take place on the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. On the other hand, this is going to be the first away match for Kings XI Punjab. However, to some extent, both teams stand in the same line and that is, both the teams lost their opening match in the tournament. So, both Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab will be gearing up to win the match. The match will start at 20:00 local time (14:30 GMT). Rajasthan Royals suffered a humiliating 9 wicket defeat to Delhi Daredevils, while Kings XI Punjab lost the home match to Chennai Super Kings by 33 runs.

There are many who consider Rajasthan Royals the least strong team among the eight teams of IPL. No doubt, those people earned more ground following the first match performance of Rajasthan Royals. In pen and paper, Rajasthan Royals spent least amount in player auction among the eight franchises of Indian Premier League (IPL). Yes, that is true. However, I do not think that Rajasthan has any less strength than any other team. I see Rajasthan Royals a balanced side. What is needed for them is to perform according to their merit and skill. In the first match, Rajasthan Royals could score only 129 runs in a batting friendly wicket and their opposition team proved it reaching the target with five overs at hand losing only one wicket. So, their bowlers were not up to the mark in that match.

Rajasthan Royals batting line up has some star batsmen like Graeme Smith, Mohammad Kaif, Justin Langer, Younis Khan, wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, Darren Lehmann etc. However, Younis Khan and Kamran Akmal missed the first match as they were busy with Pakistan team. However, Pakistan’s series against Bangladesh ended yesterday. So, there is possibility that these two Pakistani players could be available for Rajasthan Royals against Kings XI Punjab today.

There are some effective all rounders as well in Rajasthan squad including Yusuf Pathan, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Shane Watson etc. Local all rounder Ravindra Jadeja proved his credential in the first match scoring highest score for Rajasthan Royals. Captain come coach, Shane Warne can also bat well. So, I can see that Rajasthan Royals has a good batting line up considering the batting depth. For keeping, if Kamran Akmal is not available for today’s match, then Mahesh Rawat will continue in the starting line up.

I can not say that Rajasthan Royals has a formidable pace attack, especially in the absence of South African pacer Morne Morkel. However, I think, they have a balanced pace attack spearheaded by Munaf Patel. Pakistan’s left arm pacer Sohail Tanvir was on international duty with Pakistan national side. However, like Kamran Akmal and Younis Khan, I am not yet sure if Sohail Tanvir will be available for the upcoming home match of Rajasthan. Australian pacer Shane Watson seems to open with Munaf Patel, while the local stars like Siddharth Trivedi could play an important role for Rajasthan Royals. Shane Warne will definitely lead their spin attack. Yusuf Pathan, Graeme Smith can help Warne with their spin bowling.

For Kings XI Punjab, they also have a good batting line up with the presence of captain Yuvraj Singh, Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene, wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakara, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Simon Katich, Luke Pomersbach all rounder James Hopes etc. Bowling all rounders like Irfan Pathan could play a big role in their batting. Actually, their batting was up to the match in the first match 207 losing only four wickets chasing 241 runs. However, their bowling was not as good as needed to keep their opposition’s total within their reach.

Kings XI Punjab also has a formidable bowling line up. Their pace attack is spearheaded by Brett Lee and along with Indian pacer Shanthakumaran Sreesanth and Kyle Mills, it could be enough to destroy a batting line up. However, their all Indian bowling line up also very strong with the presence of leg spinner Piyush Chawla, off spinner Ramesh Powar and Karan Goel.

So, I think, both teams have some talented cricketers who could outclass the opposition in their days, Now, the question is who will outclass whom today. It is very hard to answer at this moment. Team selection might play a big role in the match and I think, the spinners will have a big impact on tomorrow’s match. Anyway, I am expecting an exciting match.
