EPL 2007-08: Who are Going to be Relegated?

In every domestic league of football playing countries, there are few clubs who take away all the media attention. In English Premier League, the giants like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are always in the limelight. The media always go for these big four in EPL and the other clubs come into attention only when they get to play against any of these four clubs.

At this moment, in English media, much of the talk is around Manchester United and Chelsea, the two realistic competitors of the title race this season. Both the clubs have two matches left in the season and Manchester United is leading the table only by goal difference. So, it is indeed a hard competition coming up in the next matches of both the clubs.

However, if you could manage to have a look at the bottom of the table, you must find a stiffer competition among four to six clubs who are battling to survive in English Premier League. Except Derby County, it is still unknown who are going to relegate to the Championship this season. Currently, Fulham and Birmingham City fall in the relegation zone with 30 and 32 points respectively. However, there are two matches left for all the clubs this season and anything can happen in the next two matches. In fact, four other clubs stand within a few points of Fulham and Birmingham City. Reading and Bolton Wanderers are just a point above Birmingham City, while Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletics can not relax as they are yet to get over the relegation threat in premier league this season.

Well, you can say that these bottom clubs do not have as many star players as the big four have. You can also claim that they can not play as good as the top four clubs can in EPL. However, what you would find in the next two matches of each of these six clubs is excitement. The players will try their best to show the best possible performance in order to remain in premier league next season. In fact, who does not want to play at premier league?
