Rio Ferdinand to Sign on a New Contract with Manchester United

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is going to sign a new four year deal with Manchester United with 16 months yet to go on his current contract. He is provided £110,000 per week on his existing contract. The defender said that he had been in Manchester United through a transitional period. The England international expressed that it was time to deliver as the rewards were to be taken. Ferdinand expressed his praise for manager Sir Alex Ferguson for choosing right players.

Goal.com reported:

"We are on the cusp of something very good," the 29-year-old said. "I’ve been here through a transitional period and I can see the fruits beginning to ripen. We have a strong bond and a great bunch of players ready to achieve.
"The rewards are there to be taken - now is the time to deliver. We’ve done a lot on the training pitch and the manager has worked tirelessly to bring in the right players. So we’re in a position to strike.”

I think, Rio Ferdinand has been in Manchester United since his move from Leeds United in 2002. He has represented England in 65 matches and played 176 matches for Manchester United so far. He has been continuously performing for Manchester United since his joining the club. So, it is natural that Manchester United will be happy to get the service of Rio Ferdinand for few more years. He is now 29. So, he can easily continue his impressive form for four more years. I think, this time Ferdinand will be offered a bigger amount because he deserves it.
