Novak Djokovic Powered into the Second Round of Australian Open 2008

Novak Djokovic moved into the second round of Australian Open 2008. The world no. 3, Djokovic projected a straight three-set victory over Benjamin Becker in the first round. The Serbian star was in dominant form throughout the match. Djokovic now will face Italian unseeded Simone Bolelli in the second round of the tournament. Djokovic did not leave any ground for Benjamin Becker in the match winning it 6-0 6-2 7-6 (7/5). He took less than one hour to complete the first two sets, whereas he faced some resistance in the third set.

Ireland.com reported:

The man who reached last year's US Open final against Federer as well as the semi-finals of the French Open and Wimbledon, cruised into the second round on day two with a 6-0 6-2 7-6 (7/5) win over German Benjamin Becker - the man who famously ended Andre Agassi's career at the 2006 US Open.

Australian Open 2008 could bring him the first grand slam title of his career, if Djokovic can continue his ominous form in the upcoming matches. To many, he is the only player who is capable of posing threat to Roger Federer, who has been undisputed king of men’s tennis for the last few years. Now, let us see if Novak Djokovic can live up to the expectation in Australian Open 2008.
