Australian Open Tennis 2008: Justine Henin Eyes on Second Australian Open Title

Justine Henin has some debts to the Australian Open tennis fans. The world no. 1 had to leave the court with a stomach illness during the Australian Open 2006 final against Amelie Mauresmo. However, there were many who believed that she could have continued the match, and her withdrawal made the fans disappointed. In 2007, she could not even enter the tournament, with some blows in her personal life following her break up with her husband.

So, the Belgium is going in to the tournament with lots of expectations from the fans. Henin is now on 28 match winning steak, since her last defeat in the semi final of Wimbledon against Marion Bartoli last year.

The Australian reported:

Henin went 63-4, winning her fourth French Open title and second US Open. She showed it all last season - heart, willpower, variety and power of strokes. Like her heroine, the great Steffi Graf once did, the Belgian shows up to every tournament prepared, focused and ready to work.

Because she has more variety than any other player, even if she is playing badly, she can go to a plan B or C and still win.

Now, it is almost clear that if Henin can hold on his form of last year, then it would be difficult enough for the others to stop her. Though there are some rising stars like Ivanovic, Bartoli, who are capable of making upsets, Henin is likely to have the most challenges from Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova. Now, let us see if Justine Henin can prove her talent once again in a grand slam tournament.
