North Korea vs Sweden Women’s World Cup 2007

North Korea vs Sweden will play their last group stage match in Women’s world cup 2007. The match will be held at the Tianjin Olympics Center Stadium on 18 September. The match will be crucial for both North Korea and Sweden as both the teams will try to win the match in order to qualify for the quarter final round. Both North Korea and Sweden are in Group B where USA and Nigeria are also competing. All four teams still have chance to qualify for the next round. So, the last two remaining matches of the group are expected to be competitive.

North Korea does not have any good track record in women’s world cup. They first took part in 1999 Women’s world cup. They could not yet enter into the quarter final round. However, this time they are playing really very well. After the first two group matches, they are now jointly leading in Group B with USA. Both North Korea and USA earned four points after participating in the first two group matches. On the other hand, Sweden could not show any impressive performance so far in Women’s world cup 2007.

Sweden has some good track record in world cup. Sweden took part in all previous tournaments. They never missed quarter final appearance in any world cup tournament yet. Sweden was the runner up of last women’s world cup in 2003. However, in Women’s world cup 2007, Sweden looks like an ordinary team. In the first group stage match, they could come up with poor performance against minnow Nigeria with a 1-1 draw. In the second match, Sweden lost to USA.

Now, Sweden has no alternative of win in the last match against North Korea. Even a win can not be enough for Sweden to enter into the quarter final of Women’s world cup 2007. They have to win against North Korea with a big margin. On the other hand, for North Korea, it is a big chance to qualify for quarter final for the first time in Women’s world cup. Now, let us see if North Korea can really qualify for the quarter final stage of Women’s world cup.
