New Zealand is in Semi Final of Twenty20 World Cup?

New Zealand has already won two matches in Super Eight. After beating India in the first match, New Zealand defeated England in their second. So, no doubt, New Zealand is now very close to the semi final of Twenty20 world cup 2007. However, from cricketing point of view, New Zealand is still not safe from being eliminated before the semi final stage. Let me explain the matter.

New Zealand has one match left and that will be against South Africa. If they lose the match then they will have 6 points from three matches. With this win South Africa will also have six points. On other hand, if India wins the two remaining matches then India will also have six points. So, New Zealand, India and South Africa will be equal in terms of points earned in Super Eight stage. So, run rate will be a matter in that case.

New Zealand won their first match against India by just 10 runs and the second match against England by just 5 runs. So, they do not have a big advantage in run rate compared to South Africa and India. Next match, New Zealand should remember this matter. Even if they lose, they should try to minimize the difference. Now, let us see if New Zealand can enter into the semi final stage of Twenty20 world cup.
