The first match of Spanish Super Cup 2007 will be held on 11 August 2007. Real Madrid and Sevilla FC will face other in this pre-season tournament. Real Madrid is the winner of Spanish League 2006-2007 season and Sevilla FC won the Spanish Cup 2006-2007. However, Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has already been out of the final squad of the Spanish Super Cup 2007. Gonzalo Higuain has fallen in a thigh muscle injury recently and no doubt, he will miss both leg match of Super Cup 2007.
The good news for Real Madrid is that Brazilian striker Fernando Baiano is going to join Real Madrid from relegated Celta Vigo. Like Real Madrid, the last season was also very good for Fernando Baiano as he scored 15 goals in Spanish premier league in 2006-2007 season.
Anyway, Real Madrid has some star players and their performance in the last season was not so bad. So, they have the capability to win the Super Cup 2007. On the other hand, Sevilla will definitely try to open the season in style and if they could win against Real Madrid then they will be able to start the season with huge confidence. Baiano? Are you kidding? As far as I know he's just joined Real Murcia from Celta, not Real Madrid. Not sure Real Madrid are looking for another striker even if Higuaín and Van Nistelrooy are still injured.
